Financially Fearless

I have a recommendation for a useful, smart and long-rewarding present: a financial education book titled Financially Fearless: The LearnVest Program for Taking Control of your Money (published 31 December 2013) written by the young and inspiring Alexa von Tobel.

This book makes a great Christmas present (or a gift for any occasion) that a parent can give to their child 18 – 26 years old (more financial education books to choose).

But really, how many of us have our finances under complete control? According to Alexa von Tobel, 76 percent of all working Americans live from paycheck to paycheck. So basically, three out of four Americans are uncertain about their financial status, and the financial decisions they make. To live paycheck to paycheck is a “ no plan” of action and a bad choice. “You cannot be ignorant,” says Alexa.

Financially Fearless: The LearnVest Program for Taking Control of Your Money is full of tasks and questions—and working through these exercises will help anyone build a solid foundation for future financial decision making skills and monthly budgeting know-how. It also gives advise on how to minimize living costs, and is presented in a 50/30/20/ formula.

formula is macro-level budgeting. And it suggests that 50 percent of your take-home pay should go to your essentials (rent/mortgage, utilities, groceries and transportation), 20 percent goes to your future (emergency savings, debt repayment, retirement funds), and 30 percent goes to your lifestyle (travel, shopping, eating out, etc.) – Tobel, Forbes Magazine

A crucial time to apply this concept, for example, is when you’re relocating. It’s tempting to overspend during a move, so it is essential to stick to the plan! If you can manage a home-purchase with a budget-minded attitude, smaller financial decisions will be a piece of cake!

The book Financially Fearless: The LearnVest Program for Taking Control of Your Money is written in an easy-to-read format: no financial background required.

About more financial education books, which will work as a perfect Christmas present under 12 $ read in our previous article here.

Go ahead and share the valuable knowledge!
