If you would have only 2 years left….

If you would have only 2 years left

Lately I’ve been asking my friends if they are happy with how they live their lives. Actually, it didn’t take long for them to become completely sick of me and   I can absolutely understand why. I kept drilling the same set of questions into their heads every time we met. Eventually I began to wonder:

“If you found out that you only had two years left to live, what would you do?”

“Would you continue working at your current job or quit and pursue your dreams?”

Well, it generally took me about two years to achieve what I wanted to achieve, so two years is not a long time if you consider the learning curve, which is the bulk of the two years. Then, to see results is also time consuming.

So, most of them said they would quit their jobs immediately and pursue “their dream job,” but were intimidated and probably would hold off because of the amount of competition facing them—for example, the fashion industry and journalism/novelist/ communications. Some folks decided they would rather spend more time with their families, run a marathon, or become a pilot. One particular answer made me crazy: “I would find the one person I’ve always loved but never expressed, and I would find her and make US happen!”

I noticed that everyone started to think and analyze their own life—everybody!

Before long, at their jobs on Monday, they were already booking summer vacations during lunchtime. Why? Because they haven’t seen the calendar!

OMG! Look at this!

www.waitbutwhy.com generously gives us ninety years of “life.” So, if we say that we live to the age of 90, then our life in weeks looks like this:

Up until now, your life was probably spelled out in weekly or yearly segments within a small, handy pocket calendar. Have a look, here it is! Find where YOU are now! Look at how much time has passed and how much time is left.

Usually, I’m against any “comparisons” having to do with someone’s life—because all people have their own way, and everybody is certainly unique. However, at this time the comparison appears rational in order to wake us up, smell the coffee, and realize the need for change.

Here is the life of a typical American, for example:

On the other hand, you can compare YOUR table with the ages of famous people who have passed away.

P.S. Now is a good time to tell to the person you love about your feelings.

Exit your comfort zone—magic will happen! Otherwise, you will never know….
